Services

Child Life & Recreational Therapy

Private practice offerings are a great way to make direct impact with clients over time. The purpose of any of my interventions is to use my knowledge of evidence-based practice to help my clients develop lifelong skills

As a Certified Child Life Specialist, my objective is to protect the psychosocial well-being of children to prevent trauma and reduce negative effects of stress. Most often we do this in hospital settings but have also been known to work in schools and homes, depending on the child's needs.

As a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, I work to support the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional objectives through the use of recreation and leisure activities. This can include anything from sports to crafts to music to dance (and beyond)! This work can be done with adults as well.

In both of these professions, I use play and recreation to continually assess and adapt to my clients' needs. We get a lot done while also having a bit of fun!

Popular interventions include:

  • Therapy for goals related to physical objectives, cognition, emotional expression, adaptation, and socialization.

  • Hospitalization of your child - developmentally appropriate diagnosis education, advocacy, preparation for procedures and operations, support at the hospital, processing

  • Bereavement/Grief (people, pets and general)

  • Community Reintegration

Program Development

Program development is one of my favorite things to do!  Why? Because I get to work with organizations to help tailor programming and services based on their unique needs and populations served.  In the process, I get to meet a lot of wonderful people with great vision and contagious passion. What's not to like?

Program development projects range in scale and can be implemented in schools, hospitals, private practice, and more. We'll start with a meeting to discuss your needs and vision, and then we'll work through ideas until we found the best fit for your program. I love problem solving and finding creative ways to deliver unique services - I'm always up for a challenge!

Popular programs include:

  • Child Life / Rec. Therapy Hospital or Community Programming

  • Teddy Bear Clinic (schools and hospitals)

  • Community Reintegration Programming

  • School Re-entry Programming

  • Bereavement/Grief Programming

  • Sibling Support Programming
